We are often faced in the context of our interventions in the workplace, the fact that access to certain sites to be closed for staff. I think of YouTube, Twitter, Viadeo, LinkedIn, Facebook, blogs, e-commerce sites. For marketers, communication and customer relations, or other key functions, this causes problems.
Why block access to Facebook?
The reasons given by CIOs to block access to these sites are often linked to corporate security. But obviously there are issues related to employee productivity. But the use of mobile and smartphones into perspective the effectiveness of these policies. Block them on the web is becoming less effective.
17 billion euros annually: the cost of surfing on Facebook
So we enjoyed ourselves to calculate the cost of time spent on Facebook per year by French workers, employed or seeking employment as one can imagine for 25/64 years. Of course, this time can be taken on leisure, the time spent watching TV, or directly the contrary productive for marketers, the community manager, sales etc..
From this stems the interest in the business of framing these issues and practices, particularly through the charters of social media.
